More birthday polish!!!

Hey guys, I just wanted to share with you the birthday polish I received today! I know my birthday was a few weeks ago but this is the polish I bought with money I got from my brother and his girlfriend. From left to right is: Love Marilyn, Full Spectrum, Fairy Dust, Ruby Pumps, Dorothy Who and Electrify. The other 3 in boxes are pretty self explanatory I think :)

Having so many new pretties to try is actually really difficult because I never know what to try first! After swatching each of them I decided to go with full spectrum. It is such a gorgeous colour but I couldn't get it to photograph very well so the pics don't show how amazing it really is!

Anyways, better be off, it is after midnight here and I need to head to bed. I just wanted to share this with you guys quickly because I love it! China glaze has got to be my favourite brand!

Thanks for reading! Night all.

Stamping review

Hi guys, I wanted to do a quick review for you today.

I was shopping in big w today when I stumbled across this stamping kit. Firstly I was excited that they actually had a stamping kit to start with and secondly the designs were cute. Even though it was $15 for one stamping plate ( :O ) I bought it anyways (it also came with a stamper, scraper and stamping polish).

As soon as I got home I took off the mani I was wearing so I could try it out. First thing I noticed was after scraping the excess polish off and placing the stamper on the plate. There was no nail polish on the stamper. I thought maybe it was just a dodgy stamper so I got out my other one and tried with that, and again, nothing. I thought perhaps it was the polish I was using so I tried with 4 different polishes using both stampers each time and every time, nothing. After so much frustration I compared the plate to my other plates and noticed the etchings weren't as deep, it's like I was just scraping all the polish off. Serious disappointment!

Then something nice happened... I have never been super good at stamping, they always end up smudged and half the image usually stays on the stamper. I got out my other plates and started stamping using my old stamper and as usual, it was a mess! Then I decided to try with the new stamper because it felt a lot more spongey than my original one. I was amazed! The designs were coming out crisp and clear, no smudging at all! Let me say though, they are far from perfect, but compared to what I usually manage to produce these are amazing!!! So, at the end of the day, even though I paid $15 for an image plate I can't use (I don't know if mine is faulty or if they are all like that) I managed to get a decent stamper out of it and may actually do a lot more stamping now!

Here are some pictures of the final result.

NOTD + my first franken!!!

Hey guys, I'm really excited about today's post! First of all, I tried out some new nail art, I even did some of it freehand which is huge for me because I pretty much suck when it comes to any kind of freehand artsy stuff!

I also made my first franken today. It was really quite fun. It started because I needed a colour to go with my nail art that I didn't have so I mixed some colours together and voila! The colour I used on my nails is just a creme but in the bottle I made I have added some glitter and it gives it a very subtle (read: hard to photograph) shimmer. I have called it "spring fling" and I'm really quite proud of how it turned out. Maybe I have caught the polish making bug :) Here is a picture of it.

Now on to the nails. The base colour is china glaze secret peri-wink-le, the dark purple is ulta3 spring break and the light purple on top is my franken polish. Hope you guys like it!

NOTD - retro nails

Hi guys, just a quick one today. Yesterday I did some retro inspired nail art. Unfortunately it started peeling off less than 12 hours later :( I got some pics though and I really liked them while they lasted so thought I would share with you all.

The base colour is snow me white by sinful colors and the block colours were also all sinfuls. I used hottie, Fiji, forget now and all about you. I had some troubles with one of colours constantly trying to lift as I pulled my striping tape off so the lines aren't as crisp as I want them to be but you get the idea.

Hope you like it! Thanks for reading.

Birthday polish!

Hi all, I have so many new polishes to show you. It was too hard just to choose one so I have done an accent nail as well. Sorry in advance, this one is going to be picture heavy! This is a picture of what I have received so far.

Sinful colors: Purple diamond
Hottie
Bali mist
I miss you
Fiji
All about you

Australis: Milky Way.

Also a glam nails nail art pen. I probably could have used a fine tip permanent marker but this is pretty handy to have.

I also have a surprise grab bag coming and 9 bottles of china glaze, plus another $40 that I can spend on whatever I want. Ahhh I love birthdays.

So today I am wearing Australis Milky Way and on the accent nails is 2 coats of sinful colors Fiji topped with 2 coats of Bali Mist, the thumb also has I Miss You. I must admit to being a bit disappointed with Bali Mist. In the bottle it is a beautiful iridescent purple. With flashes of green, orange and violet. This does not come across very well on the nail at all. The polish is extremely sheer which is why I used Fiji for undies. It helped a little but not as much as I would have liked and you definitely can't see it in the photos.

Milky Way is also quite sheer and required around 4 coats to get to the opacity that you see in the pictures. After 2 coats it became a bit thick and clumpy but once I top coated you can't notice it. It doesn't put me off using it but you do need to give it extra drying time due to the thickness.

Finally though is I Miss You. Wow, this polish is amazing! It is a beautiful purple jelly base packed with purple and silver micro glitter. Then it has small holo hex glitter scattered through it. This polish is so damn gorgeous! I wish I had done the whole mani in this colour, but never mind, there is plenty of time for that ;)

Oh and just a waning, be careful when opening a new bottle of acetone because it can get nasty! The little white bit of plastic you can see jutting out in the picture on the right hand side caused that damage!

I hope you all like the pictures, a couple are out of focus to show how blingy I Miss You is. Enjoy the rest of your weekend guys!

NOTD - loreal and ulta3

Hi all, I hope you're all well :) I almost wasn't going to post this mani but I actually really love it so decided to share with you all!

It's just a simple base colour topped with glitter but it looks so pretty. For my base coat I used maybelline express finish base & top coat, my base colour is Loreal 500 scarlet rose, the glitter is ulta3 twinkle toes and my top coat is Sally Hansen insta dri anti chip top coat.

The loreal was really messy unfortunately and stained my cuticles when I was trying to do acetone clean up so I apologise in advance for the red mess around my nails! The ulta3 went on really well with a mostly even glitter coverage. I only had to dab on a few bare spots. Although the large hex glitter did tend to clump together, so I had to move them around a bit.

I hope you all have an awesome weekend. It's my birthday tomorrow so I'm sure I will have lots of new polish to show off after the weekend :D

NOTD - Ulta3 New Year's Eve

Hey guys, just a quick one tonight as Suburgatory and Lost Girl are calling me from the tv :D

I was lucky enough to receive Ulta3 New Year's Eve in the mail today. I've been wanting this one for a while and couldn't find it anywhere and one of the ladies in the AN Facebook group was nice enough to buy it for me, excitement!

So, first up, I know this pic is out of focus but I like how it shows just how blingy this polish is!

Here are a couple more in focus ones, sorry for the crap clean up but glitter can be so hard to get rid of.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great evening, I'm on holidays and am looking forward to receiving lots of nail polish on my birthday this Friday!

Bye for now

NOTD - galaxy nails!

Hi all, welcome to autumn! My favourite time of the year, it's not too hot, it's not too cold and there aren't a tonne of flowers making me sneeze all day long :)

So I was just quietly browsing the AN Facebook group when I came across some of the lovely ladies talking about galaxy nails. I think they look pretty cool but I had never attempted them before. I used this tutorial from the lovely Eboni. The only thing I did differently was at the end, instead of using a toothpick to do the stars I used a dotting tool.... That was a disaster! I then redid the whole mani and sponged on some silver glitter for the stars. I looks much better than the first go that's for sure!

The polishes I used were loreal 809 mystic blue, lacura white, maybelline timely turquoise, maybelline grape times, loreal 602 cyclamen shine, ulta3 gold rush fever, beauty works silver glitter, maybelline base/top coat and Sally Hansen insta dri anti chip top coat.

Here are a couple of pics of the finished mani, it's not perfect by any stretch but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out :) hope you guys like it!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, even if its raining like it still is here!

Bye for now,

- Naomi
